# Referral Rewards Terms

The rules for joining the Katara referral program, earning rewards, and receiving payouts.

## 1. Joining and Referrals

1.  Every Katara account takes part in the referral program from the day it is created.
2.  Each account has a random six-character invite code and a link at refer.katara.com/<code>.
3.  A referral is recorded only when the referred account is created through an invite link or by entering an invite code at sign-up. The referral cannot be added or changed later.

## 2. Eligible Paid Use

4.  Rewards come from paid use by people up to five referral levels below you, paid with a card, USDC, or App Store credit. Each eligible paid request earns a share of Katara’s margin at the rates on [How Payouts Work](https://katara.com/how-payouts-work).
5.  For Katara Community requests, the margin is Katara’s protocol fee.
6.  For App Store credit, Apple’s commission is deducted from Katara’s margin before referral rewards are calculated.

## 3. What Never Earns

7.  Granted credit never earns rewards. This includes the $5 signup credit, promotional credit, and credit Katara grants to an individual account or a group. A request paid partly with granted credit earns rewards only on the purchased part.
8.  Agent runs earn no referral rewards for now.

## 4. Payment and Expiry

9.  Rewards from USDC payments are payable at once. Rewards from card and App Store purchases become payable after 30 days.
10.  Payouts run daily after 00:00 UTC, in USDC on Avalanche C-Chain, to the payout wallet linked to your Katara account. The minimum payout is $1. Smaller balances carry over.
11.  If no payout wallet is linked, a payable reward expires one year after it became payable.

## 5. Refunds and Fair Use

12.  Refunds and chargebacks reverse the rewards earned on the refunded spend. If a refund fails or Katara wins the dispute, the rewards are restored with their original payable date.
13.  A payout wallet can be linked to only one account.
14.  No reward is paid when the person earning and the person paying share a payout wallet, a paying wallet, or a payment card. This includes referring yourself.
15.  Katara may review unusual activity.

## 6. Changes and Availability

16.  The referral program is available for a limited time. Katara may change or end the program at any time, including changes to the reward share, level rates, holds, and minimum payout. Changes apply only to requests paid after the change.
17.  The referral program is not offered in the iPhone app. Rewards information is sent by email.
